The Dynamic Positioning (DP) Revalidation Course offered in Malaysia by Lerus is a pivotal program for Dynamic Positioning Operators (DPOs) seeking to revalidate their certification through the Nautical Institute (NI). This course is specifically designed for DPOs who may not have accumulated the required 150 DP sea time days, providing an alternative pathway to revalidate their DP certificates. By allowing completion of the revalidation course up to six months before the revalidation date set by the NI, Lerus ensures that DPOs have the flexibility to maintain their certification in line with the latest industry standards. The course's curriculum, endorsed by the NI, focuses on updating participants on the latest rules, regulations, and operational strategies in dynamic positioning, ensuring that DPOs are well-prepared to handle DP operations efficiently and safely.

Furthermore, the training emphasizes the importance of learning from known DP incidents and applying these lessons to prevent future occurrences. Utilizing state-of-the-art Kongsberg simulators, the course offers practical exercises alongside theoretical sessions, aimed at enhancing the DPOs' skills in operational planning, risk assessment, and system management. This comprehensive approach ensures that upon completion, participants are not only able to revalidate their DP certificates without the traditional sea time requirement but are also equipped with the latest knowledge and skills to excel in their roles. The course, valid for a period of 12 months for those with less than 30 days of DP sea time, underscores Lerus's commitment to providing high-quality training that meets the stringent standards of the Nautical Institute and the dynamic needs of the maritime industry.

The Dynamic Positioning (DP) Revalidation Course in Malaysia, as facilitated by Lerus, is a critical pathway for certified Dynamic Positioning Operators (DPOs) to maintain their credentials, especially when faced with the challenge of insufficient DP sea time. This course is meticulously designed to meet the revalidation requirements set by the Nautical Institute (NI), ensuring that DPOs can revalidate their DP certificates without the traditional sea time requirement. By focusing on the latest DP operations, class guidelines, and drawing from known DP incidents and lessons, the course aims to ensure that DP operators remain abreast of the evolving standards and practices within the dynamic positioning field. Utilizing advanced Kongsberg simulators, the training provides a hands-on experience that is both immersive and instructive, allowing DPOs to refine their skills in a controlled environment that mirrors real-world scenarios.

The importance of this revalidation course cannot be overstated, as it ensures that DPOs can keep pace with the developing standards and technological advancements in dynamic positioning. The course is structured to allow DPOs who have not been actively working on DP vessels to refresh their knowledge and skills, covering essential aspects such as DP bridge teamwork, emergency DP resource management, and the latest industry guidelines. For DPOs with less than the minimum DP sea time requirement of 150 days, this course offers a valuable opportunity to revalidate their certification, thereby ensuring their ability to continue their professional practice. Upon completion, participants are expected to present their original DPO certificate at the DP centre where the revalidation course is completed, signifying their compliance with the NI’s stringent standards for certification renewal. This process not only underscores the participant's commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency in DP operations but also reinforces the global maritime industry's trust in the reliability and validity of the certifications issued by the Nautical Institute.
