Prerequisites

All participants who attend a GWO Training course must create a profile in WINDA in order to get a WINDA ID which they must supply to the Training Provider prior to completing the training. https://winda.globalwindsafety.org

All personnel participating in this training shall be medically fit and capable of fully participating. Before attending the BTT Installation Module participants must first complete both the BTT Mechanical and BTT Bolt Tightening modules.

CONTENT

Introduction to the training;
Introduction to Installation;
General procedures for working onsite with installation;
Installation environments;
Handling and storing;
Lifting operations;
Main component preparation, pre-assembly and assembly;
Principles of mechanical completion;
Principles of electrical completion including cable work;
Principles of hydraulic completion;
Principles of operation with external generators;
Introduction to handover to the commissioning.

Practical Exercises:

Cutting and crimping cables;
Marking, routing and termination of all cable types;
Risks and hazards associated with handling and working with cables;
Handover to commissioning.

Objectives

The aim of the GWO BTT Installation Mechanical Module is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to perform basic mechanical installation tasks, supervised by an experienced technician, using safe working procedures and the correct PPE.

After successful completion of this module, participants will have a basic understanding of wind turbine installation environments, handling and storage of components, lifting operations, main component preparation, pre-assembly and assembly, mechanical completion, and related electrical, hydraulic and external generator principles relevant to mechanical installation work.

Prerequisites

All participants must be medically fit and capable of fully participating in the training.

Participants must create a personal profile in WINDA and provide their WINDA ID before completion of the training.

Before attending the GWO BTT Installation Mechanical Module, participants must have completed the following GWO modules:

GWO BTT Mechanical
GWO BTT Bolt Tightening

Certification Standard

This course is certified according to the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Basic Technical Training Standard.

Validity

No expiry period applies. GWO BTT modules are enduring qualifications. Retraining may be required according to company requirements, national legislation, or after an extended period without applying the skills.
