Course Description and Purpose

The Emergency Response Awareness and Acknowledgement (ER-ACK) training provides theoretical and practical information about emergency response onboard in saving human lives, safeguarding the maritime environment, and reducing ship damage. Continuous training and practical drills onboard are essential in this respect, but they cannot guarantee that the crew will follow orders in the event of an emergency. This training provides how to tackle emergency situations on board ships. Although continuous training and practical exercises onboard ships may help crew members deal effectively with emergency circumstances. They must foremost be prepared of the many sorts of emergency scenarios that might occur onboard a ship. This training aids in a better understanding of the true situation and develop emergency awareness and preparedness through learning by doing.

Target Audience

All personnel designated as crew including officers and ratings onboard ships.

Course Prerequisites

A valid medical certificate and STCW certificates of Personal Survival Techniques (A-VI/1-1), Fire Fighting and Fire Prevention (A-VI/1-2), Elementary First Aid (A-VI/1-3), Personal Safety and Social Responsibility (A-VI/1-4), Proficiency in Security Awareness (A-VI/6-1).

Theoretical lessons (30%) at Training Centre and practical exercises (70%) at Emergency Response Training Facility:

    • Application of real-time, type-specific emergency scenarios

    • Shipboard crew response in emergencies
    • Practical Exercises for the Emergency Response Team Member

Objectives

Participants should demonstrate their knowledge of the role and responsibilities in case of any emergency onboard ship and practice to a variety of shipboard firefighting and non-firefighting emergency scenarios.

Admission Requirements

Participants must have a valid seaman’s book, medical certificate and valid photo ID
