Course Aims

The Gangway Operator Competence Assessment is designed to assess knowledge and skills acquired by the delegate during the Gangway Operator Initial Training (link to the course) and after completing practical tasks onboard their units equipped with walk-to-work gangway.

Course pre-requisites

Valid Gangway Operator Initial Training certificate and confirmed experience recorded in the Gangway Operator log book.

Course is lined up with the IMCA M254 “Guidelines for Walk to Work Operations”, IMCA C002 “Guidance on Competence Assurance and Assessment. Marine Division” and covers the following:

  • Prestart, daily and pre-connection Gangway checks
  • Safe Working Limits
