The training combines classroom instruction with practical exercises, enabling delegates to identify defects, assess equipment condition, and apply appropriate rejection criteria in accordance with industry standards and company procedures.
During the course, participants learn about lifting legislation and guidance, including LOLER, PUWER, BS 7121, and IMCA recommendations. They gain an understanding of different types of lifting equipment and accessories, inspection techniques, documentation requirements, certification, tagging systems, and inspection programme management. The practical session focuses on visual inspections, defect identification, completing inspection records, and making fit-for-use decisions using real equipment and realistic case studies.
This one-day course is designed for riggers, deck crew, supervisors, and personnel responsible for lifting equipment inspections, helping improve safety, compliance, and operational reliability.
Covers lifting equipment legislation, inspection principles, lifting equipment and accessories, defect identification, rejection criteria, documentation, certification, inspection planning, and practical visual inspections. Includes hands-on exercises, inspection records, and fit-for-use assessments.

No formal prerequisites. The course is intended for riggers, deck crew, supervisors, maintenance personnel, and individuals responsible for lifting equipment inspections or nominated as in-house inspectors. Previous experience in lifting operations is beneficial but not mandatory.
