Purpose
The Offshore Helideck Assistants (HDAs) typically carry out routine helideck operations such as maintenance and testing of helideck systems and equipment. HDAs also assist with passenger embarkation and disembarkation, as well as transferring freight and passenger baggage to and from the helicopter. HDAs will also perform the role of HDA Helideck Emergency Response Team Member (HERTM) when preparing for helicopter landings and form the initial respond to helicopter emergencies. This training course is designed to update the knowledge, understanding and skills required to perform the role of Offshore Helideck Assistant and Helideck Emergency Response Team Member in Helideck Operations with high level of safety and efficiency.
Target Audience
All personnel currently-appointed OPITO-certified Offshore Helideck Assistant and/or Helideck Emergency Response Team Member that require to revalidate their Certificate by refreshing and updating their knowledge and skills.
Course Prerequisites
One of the following:
- A valid OPITO Helideck Emergency Response Team Member Training Certificate
- A valid OPITO HERTM Further Training Certificate
Theoretical lessons and practical exercises at Helicopter simulator:

HDA Further Training
- HDA further theory training
- HDA further practical training in emergency response.
Participants should demonstrate their knowledge of the role and responsibilities of a HDA and HERTM and practice to a variety of helideck firefighting and non-firefighting emergency scenarios.
Participants must have a valid medical certificate and valid photo ID.

I recently completed the HERTM course at Lerus Training Centre in Bulgaria and I was very impressed with the overall experience. The training was well organized, professional, and had a very good balance between theory and practical exercises.
