Purpose

On shore ship simulation training has been a common and useful resource over the years in the offshore industry; it compliments but will never substitute for a live experience at sea.
Ideally, training at sea on a real vessel, enabling a student to experience live sea conditions would be the panacea. This is why Lerus Training have developed a programme using a sea going training vessel which enables students to engage in realistic onboard training, including, maneuvering the ship and learning how to react in critical conditions.

Offshore vessels are continuously growing in size and complexity, and recruiting deck officers with the necessary skills and experience is proving more and more difficult. This training program has been developed in accordance with The Nautical Institute training scheme for a Dynamic Positioning Operator (DPO).
The aim of this training programme is to concentrate all the available time developing the DPO's DP skills and basic familiarisation skills to become more proficient in order to avoid any human related incidents
